Monday

Event– Drop-in Life Drawing session

Location- Block T, 8 Basin View, Dublin 8

Description- ‘Dublin Drop-in Life Drawing’ is a life drawing group based in Dublin, Ireland. Every Monday evening (starting January 7th, 2019) we invite you to join our Life Drawing sessions based in Block T, Dublin 8 (https://www.facebook.com/BLOCKTDublin/). We will draw from a real life model each week. Participants are expected to bring their own drawing/painting materials. Easels and drawing boards can be provided (Limited number. Get down early!).

Cost- Single session: € 15, 4 sessions: € 50

Time- Sessions will run from 6:30pm – 8:30pm with intermittent breaks for complimentary tea and biscuits!

Children’s event Junior Tap Dance 4-6 years Term 2 2018-2019

Location- The Hole In The Wall, Blackhorse Avenue, Dublin 7

Description- This course is intended for children aged 4-6 and starts their journey into dance and tap dance. Classes include rhythm and music games, improvisation/freestyle games and learning dances to music from the charts, from musicals and jazz classics. Class numbers are kept very small for this class to ensure every child gets lots of individual attention.

Monday evenings 4.45-5.30pm

10 week term

7th January – 25th March (No class 18th February or 18th March)

Cost- €75 for the full course

Tuesday

Event– BluesDays Tuesdays

Location- Mind The Step, 24 Strand Street

Description- Level 1 Drop-in Class with Local Teachers.

This class follows a syllabus that rotates every 4 months.
To make sure you learn something new every week. However, it’s not a progressive course so you can drop-in anytime and learn more about Blues dancing.

Children’s event– Tiny Tots Tuesday: SENSEable Tots

Location- EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum

Description- EPIC is peppered with tales of messers and mischief-makers across the Irish diaspora!

This January we are kicking off the new year with a messy play session and are delighted to welcome Karen from SENSEable Tots back to the museum, who will be running another fun sensory workshop for your little ones.

Learn through messy play and exploration at this session, and be sure to wear clothes suitable for messy play! There will be free tea and coffee provided by Bakehouse CHQ, as well as some lovely treats and a chance to sit back, relax and have the chats.

Participants at this event can also avail of a 20% discount on tickets to our museum and 20% off in our gift shop. Just present your Eventbrite ticket or email at the check-out!

Wednesday

Event– Free Taster Classes – ONE night only!

Location- Dance Ireland, Foley Street

Description- Want to get moving more in 2019? Then why not come along to DanceHouse for a spectacular night of free dance classes in Dublin City Centre. There is a wide range of classes to choose from!

These free taster classes give you the opportunity to learn from some of Ireland’s leading performers and choreographers. Our teachers will start you off on the right foot.

Grab your comfortable clothes and dancing shoes as DanceHouse opens its doors for a night of fun and fitness.

Children’s event– The Wizard of Oz by Coolmine Panto Group at Draiocht Jan 2019

Location- Draiocht Blanchardstown

Description- Join Dorothy and her dog Toto as they are transported from their home in Kansas to the land of Oz where they meet some very strange characters – a Strawman, a Tinman and a cowardly Lion. Lovely Witch of the North greets them and advises that they should follow the Yellow Brick Road to find the Wizard who will solve all their problems. Hot in pursuit is Dorothy’s Auntie Gertie and a variety of colourful characters who will delight and entertain you. But Wicked Witch of the West has other plans and will do her best to stop them.

Cost- €22 / €18 conc / Relaxed Performance €15

Thursday

Event– Bowie On Vinyl

Location- The Big Romance, 98 Parnell Street

Description- On the 3rd anniversary of Bowie’s passing we are teaming up with The Big Romance bar on Parnell St – a fantastic new vinyl bar that houses an unbelievable custom built audiophile hi-fi soundsystem built by Toby Hatchett – for a listening playback on vinyl of Bowie’s final masterpiece Blackstar from start to finish.

Admission is free. Limited seating.

Nearly forty years on from his first release, David Bowie’s ‘Black Star’ was gifted to his fans, just two days before he himself passed away. This beautiful work is a true testimony to the legacy Bowie left behind, and how this once bright light had finally gone dark.

The Big Romance is a new vinyl bar serving a line-up of craft beer, cocktails and great music on an audiophile hi-fi soundsystem.

Children’s event– Alice in Wonderland – The Axis Panto

Location- Axis, Ballymun

Description- What would you do if you found a talking white rabbit in your garden? You would be curious of course. So if it was with Alice when she followed the white rabbit into the rabbit hole, followed by her mother Dame Stuffy.

On their journey they meet the Mad Hatter, Queen of Hearts, the Chesire Cat, Dee and Dum and have a mad hatters tea party. Join us for the annual Christmas of music, song and laughter.

Friday

Event– Bohemian Rhapsody Sing Along Special

Location- The Stella Theatre, Rathmines

Description- “Don’t stop me, don’t stop me, hey, hey, hey, HEY!”

We invite you to a very special sing along screening of Bohemian Rhapsody, the box office smash detailing the rise of legendary rock band Queen and their charismatic front man Freddie Mercury at the Stella Theatre.

Grab a cocktail and summon your inner Freddie and hit the high notes in our beautifully restored theatre.

Children’s event– Children’s Ukulele classes (for ages 8-11)

Location- Ballyroan Library, Orchardstown Avenue

Description- This is a four week course for children aged 8-11 years only who want to learn to play the ukulele.

If you own a ukelele you are asked to bring it along. There will be some ukulele’s available for use during the class.

Saturday

Event– Bowie Market

Location- Ha’Penny Market, 35 Lower Liffey Street

Description- The Grand Social will host a Bowie Market on Saturday 12th of January 2019 from 12 till 5pm as part of the DUBLIN BOWIE FESTIVAL! – Any Bowie fans pop in and pick up some memorabilia, art, vinyl and have a pint while you browse.

Cost- Free in

Time- 12.00-17.00

Children’s event– Snow White and the Seven Short Stories

Location- National Concert Hall

Description- Join the WhistleBlast Quartet for a musical adventure through popular fairy tales and children’s stories. Listen out for some favourite familiar pieces including selections from Carmen and Sleeping Beauty, and meet Amadeus Mozart as one of the Three Little Pigs! See how music can bring a story to life, with plenty of opportunity for participation in this engaging concert for the family.

Suitable for 4-12 year olds and their families.

Sunday

Event– Drink Tea & Draw Dublin: Make An Abstract Painting

Location- The Clockwork Door, 51 Wellington Quay

Description- An art meetup with a difference where music plays a big part.

After our first few soldout events we are back again!
Drink Tea & Draw is our non alcoholic Drink & Draw Ireland where you sip tea and paint a canvas. No experience is needed and you are free to do what you want!

This months meetup is based on abstract art and we are all going to be trying to unwind and let loose on the canvases

We will also have painting with music where we ask participants to paint based on the song they are listening too with prizes on the night.

This is a no pressure art meetup and chillout zone to connect and relax.FREE TEA & COFFEE AND SNACKS for everyone who attends.

HOW IT WORKS:
1: You turn up and meet likeminded people.

2: We provide all the materials needed (including a canvas, paint bip,paints,brushes and unlimited free tea,coffee and biscuits)

3: We paint a canvas together while listening to awesome tunes.

4:We have a speedpainting round where everyone paints to the sound of music. Each person can then explain what they did and have the chance to win a prize.

5: You take your masterpieces home.
