Event- Hot House Big Band Swing Jazz Orchestra

Location- Harry’s on the green, 2 South King Street

Children’s Event- Sensory Processing Workshop

Location- Treehouse Practice, Cubes 3, Beacon South Quater, Sandyford

Description- This is a practical 3-hour workshop run by Jennifer Donlon, Paediatric Occupational Therapist. Jennifer is a highly experienced occupational therapist who has experience working within community, disability, and private sectors. Jennifer has particular interest and experience in working with children with sensory processing difficulties and has devised this workshop to offer practical supports to parents, teachers, and childcare workers. This workshop has previously won an excellence award when offered within the public service.

During the course of the 3 hours you will learn about different types of sensory regulation difficulties and common reasons for these. The focus will then be on practical solutions to these needs, across home, preschool and school environments. The workshop will be interactive, with opportunities to interact with the therapist. Spaces are strictly limited to allow this type of interaction.

This workshop might appeal to parents/ teachers of children with ADHD, DCD (dyspraxia), sensory processing disorder, ASD, and children without clinical diagnoses who either appear overwhelmed in their environments or seek regular sensory input.

Tuesday

Event- Dublin 15 Guitar Summer Concert

Location- Draíocht, The Blanchardstown Centre, Blanchardstown

Description- Following on from the success of last years event, the Summer Concert returns, showcasing  the musical talents of students studying with local Guitar Tutor, John McLoughlin. The concert will feature a selection of music acts performing on electric and acoustic guitar.

A wide range of students (young and ‘mature’), will perform both instrumental pieces and songs; giving students a platform to perform in a concert setting. John’s aim is to create a positive and relaxed atmosphere; to allow students to flourish and enjoy the experience of performing.

Event- Lunchtime Recital: University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir

Location- Christ Church Cathedral

Description- The University of Southern Indiana Chamber Choir, Daniel Craig director will perform a concert of sacred and Irish traditional works for choir and small ensemble. The group will perform works by Monteverdi, Gallus, Lauridsen, Rachmaninov and many more. They will also perform a suite of music in the Irish Tradition arranged by their director Daniel Craig.

Event- Frits Koster Presents A Public Lecture On Deepening Mindfulness With Heartfulness

Location- The Sanctuary, Stanhope Street, Dublin 7

Description- This is an opportunity to be awake to stillness, creativity and spirituality. This is a very special evening for practitioners, with author Frits Koster.

Frits is a trainer in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). As a teacher he is connected to MBSR Training Institutes in the Netherlands, Belgium and Ireland.

Event- Ma Thursdays’- Singer Song Writer Open Mic

Location- Mother Reilly’s, 26-32 Upper Rathmines Road

Description- A great night of music and craic! An opportunity for some of Dublins musicians to come in a showcase their material. What keeps our Open Mic different from others is all types of acts are welcome. We have had Spoken Word, Poetry, Rap to Comedy and even some Dancers. Makes for an enjoyable night and a real mix keeping the night entertaining and enjoyable!

If you are interested in performing drop in around 8.30pm, depending on how busy it is you will be offered a minimum of three songs or whatever you are comfortable with.

Event- Humanitarian Symphony Orchestra (HSO) in concert

Location- Our Lady of Dolours Parish, Glasnevin, Botanic Rd, Glasnevin

Description- The wonderful Humanitarian Symphony Orchestra (HSO) founded/ directed by Louise Mooney and Ian O’Maonaigh in 2015, based in Drumcondra. Through their passion for music and community work the Orchestra evolved. Raising much-needed funds for our charity partners to date (Doctors Without Borders/MSF, St. Vincent De Paul, Temple Street Foundation, Make A Wish Foundation, St Peters, St Columba‘s School music development).

We bring to you a lively, enjoyable night of music.

Event- Bushy Park Market Yoga (more dates)

Location- Bushy Park, Terenure

Description- Each week Rathmines Collective host a lovely experienced yoga teacher to guide you in a variety of styles of yoga, for ALL LEVELS. We ask for a 5 euro donation. Each month we donate part of the money to both local and international charities.

Event- Intro To Sewing & Basic Alterations Class

Location- When Poppy Met Daisy, 5/6 Capel Street

Description- Learn the basics of using a sewing machine for complete beginners. This course is a once off four hour workshop. In the course you will learn all the sewing machine basics and make a small bag. In the alteration part of the course we will cover an array of hems, basic alterations and insert an invisible zip.

Children’s Event- The RTÉ Concert Orchestra present BABE: Live

Location- National Concert Hall, Earlsfort Terrace

Description- Join the RTÉ Concert Orchestra for a live screening of Babe, a wonderful family film about a little pig who wants to be a sheep dog.

    Maybe Remind people that on Sunday the mini marathon is on so there is usually loads of roads in town closed off!
