Monday

Event- Fantastic Mr. Anderson – Wes Anderson Season

Location- The Lighthouse Cinema, Smithfield

Description- We are huge fans of Wes Anderson here at Light House and we know you are too! So, for the month of March we are delighted to finally bring you a full retrospective of the films of Wes Anderson, finishing up with a massive Wes Anderson party on the opening night of his new film Isle of Dogs on 30th March

Event- Dublin Gaymers- Priced Out Of SmallWorld

Location- Token Bar, Dublin 7

Description- Our goal is to provide LGBT+ people with a friendly space where they can hang out, make new friends, and play some games.

We’re back downstairs in Token for this event and as always it’s open to all members of the LGBT+ community and their allies. So don’t be shy! Tuesday

Event- Free classical concert in Dublin by American youth choirs

Location- Christ Church Cathedral Dublin

Description- The Chamber Choir and Chanteuse Women’s Choir from Hudson High School – Wisconsin, USA – are coming to Dublin! A total of 80 student singers.

This evening concert is part of their 10-days tour through Ireland and the UK. Under the direction of musical directors Mr. Andrew Haase and Ms. Kari Heisler, the Chamber Choir and Chanteuse Women’s Choir will perform works of Kirchner, Tschesnokoff, Robertson, Dawson, Wilberg, DiLasso, Aguiar and more.

Cost- Entry to this concert is free, however pre registration is essential here

Wednesday

Event- The Fast and the Fancy (more dates)

Location- Connolly House, Marino College

Description- These images are part of The Fast and The Fancy photographic project comprising a photobook and an exhibition, which looks at the world of pigeon fanciers and their birds in Ireland.

An illustrated talk which gives a fascinating insight to the world of pigeon fanciers based on a photography project undertaken by John Carroll. He looks behind the scenes and discusses the people, the birds and the activities that make up this unique pastime for many dedicated followers.

Time- Opening at 18.00 today but 09.00-17.00 for the rest of the festival

Event- Five Laps Arts Festival- Traditional Music

Location- Pipers Corner, Marlborough St

Description- The Five Lamps Arts Festival 2018 opening night will be a date to remember. There will be great Craic with Irish music and much fun. The . is Dublin’s newest and most exciting traditional music bar.

With live music every night featuring Ireland’s leading musicians, piper Maitiú Ó Casaide and a leading member of the group The Bonneymen perform with fiddle player Ciarán Mac Aodhgáin for the very best of Irish music.

Children’s Event- Carnation Theatre

Location- Charleville Mall Library, Charleville Mall, North Strand

Description- Circus is based on the song and the WC Fields film, The Man On The Flying Trapeze. Circus! follows the fortunes and misfortunes of Desmond Dunphy, a cobbler whose first love, Nelly, ran away with the circus.

Thursday

Event- A Walk Back in Time

Location- Connolly House, Marino College, 171 North Strand Road, Dublin 1

Description- A Walk Back in Time with Terry Fagan of the North Inner City Folklore Project features stories from around Dublin’s famous red-light district known as Monto

Cost- Free

Time- 11.00

Event- Rock Hard Women

Location- Grand Social, 35 Liffey Street Lower

Description-  Join us in celebrating International Women’s Day.  A female led event, the night will showcase some of the most interesting groups of the music and dance scene.

Enjoy a great variety of live music from numerous acts followed by the premiere of Sibéal Davitt’s new dance piece, ‘Surrender Navigation’.  Jade O’Connor will close the event with a DJ set and prepare to continue the dancing until the early hours. All welcome to the celebrations.

Friday

Event- Mapping the North Wall

Location- The Five Lamps Starting Point

Description- This walking tour will bring you through the history of the dockland area, its hidden relics, and the modern future being developed in the area today.  The tour is roughly an 80 minute walk and offers a different view of Dublin with some quieter corners right on the doorstep of the city centre.  Manny Man presents to you… the North Wall!

Event- Sweet Dreams Mr Heroin

Location- Connolly House, Marino College, 171 North Strand Road

Description- A powerfully moving and hauntingly beautiful play which tells the story of a father’s heartbreak for his son Joey who has been ravaged by heroin addiction.  And of a young woman’s fight with addiction and prostitution as she tries desperately to be there for her daughter on the day of her first Holy Communion.

Children’s Event- Bloom and Buzz

Location- Charleville Mall Library, Charleville Mall, North Strand

Description- Bloom ‘n’ Buzz is a fun and interactive theatrical performance combining clown, puppetry and physical theatre for young children aged between 3-6 years old. It explores themes of life and death, growth and renewal, in a playful, sensitive and age appropriate manner.

Saturday

Event- Market and Picnic Mud Island

Location- Through the arch into Newcomen Court, North Strand, Dublin 3 (beside Cloud Cafe)

Description- Spring Market and Community Picnic. Art, Craft and Photography, Clothes and Bric a Brac, Artisan Food Products, Vinyl and Books, Refreshments, Music and much more!

Bring food to share and eat together. Support local producers and get some unique gifts!

Cost- Free to attend

Time- 12.00-17.00

Event- Royal Canal Day Out. All day events on the Royal Canal from Charleville Mall

Location- Charleville Mall Library, Charleville Mall, North Strand

Description- Your captain is Jenny Wren and her barge will be the focus for local musicians and poets and performers as all day long from 12-6 there will be music and poetry and craic on the beautiful barge and tours on the barge. Inland Waterways Association will run trips on the canal on their boat, adventure Sports will give displays, East Wall Water Sports will do displays on the canal.

Children’s Event- Dance Workshop Library

Location- Charleville Mall Library, Charleville Mall, North Strand

Description- A family dance workshop led by Dance Artist in residence in the Five Lamps Arts Festival, Emily Kilkenny Roddy. Aimed at parents with young children (4-7 years) who like to move, this workshop will cater to both the parent and child, getting everyone dancing together in a fun and creative way.

Sunday

Event- Traditional Music- Philip Lonergan and friendss trad & blues

Location- Annesly House, 70 N Strand Rd, Ballybough, Dublin 3

Description- An explosive mix of traditional music and blues like you have never heard before. Musician, stuntman, actor, farmer with a wonderful stage presence.

Cost- €5

Time- 20.00

Event- Fusion Sunday market

Location- Newmarket Square, Dublin 8

Description-  An international culture market with stalls from around the world, selling a range of handmade goods, arts and crafts, recycled products, jewelery, clothes and food.

Cost- Free to attend
