Description

Last week I asked you guys to submit any questions you may have about Dublin that I haven’t already covered. Below are my questions, I’ve focused on Dublin’s city centre and have answered the questions off the cuff, hope you find them helpful! (To check out whats on in Dublin in my Dublin events posts click here)

Nice Bars To Drink In With Your Mum?

Peruke and Periwig on Dawson St, The Bank on Dame Street, Olesya’s Wine bar on Exchequer Street.

Favourite Spot To Bring A Tourist You’re Meant To Be Showing Around Dublin?

Take a Dublin Bike from Stephen’s Green to Dublin 8, stop at Christ Church for a look around, have a pint outside Beer Market to take in the vibe of Thomas Street, take a tour of the Guinness Storehouse before heading down to the Phoenix park for a coffee. Cycle up the Quays stopping in Dice Bar for one & return the bikes nearby before heading to Mulligan’s in Stoneybatter for dinner.

Any Secret Bars?

Library Bar upstairs in Central Hotel, The Whiskey Bar inside Market Bar open Thursday-Saturday from 5pm (entrance through the back of the barbers inside the George’s Street arcade) and The Blind Pig downstairs (press on the picture on the wall for the secret door to open (… honestly!) in Pacino’s on Suffolk Street.

Fave Bottomless Brunch?

Bow Lane as they offer you a variety of cocktails (not just bellinis and mimosas).

Best karaoke Bar?

I love the room at the back of the King 7 on Capel street for a group but Ukiyo on Exchequer wins for the sheer madness that seems to happen in their karaoke rooms downstairs!

Best Spot For Irish Food?

The Woolen Mills or The Winding Stair both have a strong emphasis on Irish Food or Mulligan’s in Stoneybatter.

Cafes In Dublin Which Close Later Than 7pm?

Accents on Stephen’s Street stays open until 11pm, Lemon Jelly on the Millennium Walkway is open until 9pm, KC Peaches branches are open until 8pm and Starbucks on Stephen’s green is 24 hour.

Best Places To Catch Live Music?

The Sugar Club on Leeson Street, The Grand Social on Liffey Street or Whelans on Wexford Street are great for live gigs.

Best Late Night Bar?

Pygmalion on Coppinger Row or No Name bar on Fade Street.

Best Area For Shopping?

Start at Grafton street lower and make your way towards Stephen’s Green shopping centre for highstreet finds then hit the Powerscourt Centre for unique designs with a strong emphasis on Irish brands and then on to Temple Bar for some funky vintage pieces.

Best After-Bar Food?

Zaytoon on Parliment Street or Dame street for sure!

Best Places For Graffiti In Dublin?

Behind Whelan’s on Wexford Street, Behind the Bernard Shaw on Richmond Street or all around Windmill lane just there near Lombard Street… I believe this is where U2’s recording studio used to be and the graffiti started as tributes from their fans.

Best Dublin Area For A Day Trip?

Howth, Dun Laoghaire or Bray.

Any Good Restaurant Deals?

Sundays at 777 where lots of dishes are on €7.77, Skinflint Pizza‘s ‘2 for 1’ on Mondays or, Xico‘s Monday deal where all food & drink is half price… what more could you want!?

Your Favourite Beach?

I love the little beaches around Dalkey or Portmarnock for the vibe on a hot summer’s day.

Best Cocktail Bar For A Date?

Peruke and Periwig on Dawson Street, 777 on George’s Street, The Green Hen on Exchequer Street or The Blind Pig on Suffolk Street.

Best Indoor Spots To Bring Kids On Rainy Days?

I’ve heard Jumpzone is fab or any of the interactive exhibitions happening in The Ambassador (there’s currently a dinosaur exhibition) or the fun exhibitions in The Science Gallery.

Any Unique Cinemas?

Brooks do private cinema viewings, I’ve never been but it sounds nice! The Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield or the Stella Cinema in Rathmines are both lovely.

Best Rooftop Bar?

The Marker Hotel has a stunning rooftop but they don’t always open it (weather dependent), Marks And Spencer on Grafton Street have a gorgeous sheltered area upstairs where they serve food… they also serve mini bottles of prosecco so it’s the perfect place for a few cheeky drinks on a balmy evening. Sophie’s on Harcourt Street also have a beautiful outdoor area upstairs and Fitzsimons Hotel in Temple Bar are known for a good rooftop are but I’ve never been (will have to change that!).

Any Good Day Time Parties?

Ohhhh, they kind of just come about if you’re out with people in the know but Telephone’s do the most well organised & downright bloody fun day time parties in Dublin imo! Neds is a renowned little spot to keep the party going too.

xx
